Cruise passengers hit with fuel surcharges

The rising cost of fuel has now hit people who like to cruise! Almost all cruise lines have announced added fuel surcharges to offset the rising cost of fuel.
The Carnival Corporation which owns Carnival, Princess, Holland America, Costa, Cunard, and the Yachts of Seabourn, implemented the surcharge for all voyages departing on or after February 1, 2008 and other cruise lines quickly followed suit.
Most cruise lines are charging $5 a day per person. That can amount to $70 per person for a week long cruise. Others are charging up to $7.00 a day per person.
Carnival stated that it hopes that fuel prices will someday return to a level where they can eliminate the surcharges. But don't look for that to happen anytime soon.Emerald Princess

I just returned from a special celebration for the Emerald Princess. The beautiful ship just sailed from Europe for it's maiden voyage here in the states. Docked in Port Everglades, the Emerald Princess offers 10 night sailings to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean. My first steps onto the beautiful ship did not disappoint. The Emerald has an elegant Italian decor. There are beautiful paintings of the Italian countryside throughout the ship.
I stayed in an Ocean View cabin with a balcony on the Caribe deck. The balcony was very large. I was impressed with the size of the room and closet space.
One of the most beautiful spots on the ship is the three story Italian piazza atrium. The International Cafe just off of the atrium offers a variety of cuisine, including my favorite... gelato. You will definately not go hungry on this ship. There are more than a dozen restaurants, including a homemade pizza and ice cream shop off of the main pool. The huge movie screen located over the pool showed first run movies throughout the day and evening.
I am already planning my next trip onboard the Emerald Princess. If you are interested in sailing on this amazing liner, please call me at 1-800-249-7151. I have space available on all sailings, with some shipboard credit available for certain dates.
If you are even thinking about taking a cruise, please take a look at this new ship and everything she has to offer. You won't be disappointed.
